With a love of family and country, Richard Gutierrez proudly steps into the ring. From the mean streets of Arjona, Colombia, Gutierrez brings a passion for excellence to the world of professional boxing.
"My family and my home country inspire me to make a name for myself in the ring," said Gutierrez, a proud father of three. "I fight like a sheet of steel. My opponents aren’t ever going to be able to break me."
Growing up, this "man of steel" played a mean game of soccer. "I love playing soccer. I’m pretty good at it," he said. "But today my focus is on taking care of business in the ring and becoming a champion."
Gutierrez has been featured on HBO’s Boxing After Dark. "My work ethic has brought me positive attention," he said. "I’m working hard, overcoming obstacles and finding a way to succeed each time I put on my gloves."
In the ring, many experts compare his style to that of the legendary Roberto Duran. "It’s an honor to be a part of this quest to be the best I can be," he said. "I know with God in my corner, I’ll always be prepared to do my best. Before each fight I pray for good health and victory. So far, God has been good to me."
