Chemical Property Hydrogen
Why is Hydrogen placed in the alkali metals?
It’s chemical properties are different from those of the alkali metals. Use atomic structure to support your answer. This was a question from my science work. I didn’t think it was an alkali metal. Am I wrong? What is the correct answer? Thank you!
It isn’t an alkali metal, but it’s placed above them in the periodic table because both Hydrogen and alkali metals need to gain only one electron to complete their valence shells.
